TREATMENT

Dr. Horst's Approach

No matter what your reason for seeking help is, I believe all patients should be treated not only individually but also holistically through a multifaceted approach that looks at their lifestyle choices and the impact those have on their symptoms. I specialize in psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy and medication management to achieve long-lasting results for my patients. Working together, we can address your issues and design a personalized treatment plan for you

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a collaborative and active process between the therapist and the patient. Like all services, it has potential benefits and risks.

The goal is for psychotherapy to be gratifying, help improve relationships and reduce symptoms of distress. Since it involves discussing difficult and sometimes unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings (sadness, guilt, shame, anger, frustration, loneliness, etc.).

Psychotherapy requires a significant commitment of time, energy, and money. The minimum frequency of psychotherapy visits is weekly. There may be times when we agree to more frequent sessions.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is an approach that facilitates a deeper understanding of one’s emotions and other mental processes. It works to help people gain greater insight into how they feel and think to understand their inner world better.

By improving this understanding, people can make better life choices. They can also work on improving their relationships with other people and work toward achieving the goals that will bring them greater happiness and satisfaction.

Pharmacology Therapy

Psychotropic medications may be recommended as part of your treatment plan.

If so, the treatment’s advantages and disadvantages will be discussed, as possible risks versus benefits, side effects, and alternatives.

All medication changes, questions, or concerns should be discussed with me. There are instances when psychotropic medications are used for psychiatric conditions or symptoms, despite FDA approval, and these will be discussed with you if the case arises. The frequency of psychopharmacology visits varies in response to treatment.

Telemedicine Therapy

Through telepsychiatry, Dr. Horst is able to deliver individualized care in the comfort and privacy of your home. Telepsychiatry is an innovative form of classic psychiatric care. It uses secure, real-time audio and video-based technology to connect psychiatrists and patients virtually. Our state-of-the-art services are highly secure. Patients receive the same protection as they do at an in-person visit. Telepsychiatry services adhere to the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
